Day Five

No not day five in big brother house, but on my trading challenge obviously lol,
Trading summary today is as follows-

  • Horses, Early dart from work let me traded a few more races than I thought I could, I made a £1 on three races (good with my bank) and the remainder of the races topped up my profit on horses to £6.44
  • Football, Currently trading Man Utd v Stoke match and looking at a small green currently, could do with a couple of quick goals in the second half so I can trade out of U4.5 goals market.
So well in front of my trading bank growth curve and feel good but don't want to get complacent, so time for a psychology book me thinks.

Day Four

Day Four, Pretty poor from me and not something I will be trying out, what happened was I was trading from my Iphone whilst work was a bit slack, during a trade I was distracted and didn't get chance to lay off and ended winning nearly £6, bit stupid and like I say unless its any sport except the horses. I did carry with some more traditional form of trading when I got home from work and brought my total to over £9for the day. So a step forward, a lesson learn't and a sign up to Betting System Notes and a really good look around their site, I am really looking forward to using the strategies that they have to offer and the simplicity of the market matcher tool that can line up strategy and game in a couple of clicks.

Day Three

These days/posts are racking up fast now, day three already and over 1% of final total completed, not significant amount at the moment but they all add up, limited opportunities on the horses today, I didn't realise Sundays in January were so bad. Apart from that I scalped the odds @ HT on the North East derby and finished the day on £56.32 which is nearly 5% more than yesterday (punches the air).
I want to approach football trading with a bit more professionalism but with such a small bank and trying employ complex strategies across several market, I don't want to over-expose with high liabilities (%age wise) so I think that will have to wait a week or so.

Day two

Day two wrap up, I actually traded the Man Utd v Liverpool match, I made £3.90 in total by trading the over2.5 , I backed it at KO and then backed it again at 3.25 which was just before the 1st goal went in, I immediately laid off to equalise the profits and then bang on HT I did a whole bank trade on the U2.5 and instantly greened up for a further profit. Horses - I didn't do that many races, 5 in total with profits ranging from £0.12 to £0.86, I know I said earlier that I would go on to trade the evening racing, but little did I know that there in fact isn't any.
No bother I will be happy with what I've got, as over the last two days my bank increases have been the equivalent of 10 days trading at 3% a targets, so I think I can see Friday, Saturday and Sundays becoming my 'banker' days. Green is green though, and three cheers for green. Just a quick pic to show that small profits soon add up.

Scoop6 Rollover

Dont forget its a multiple rollover on todays Scoop6 with nearly £1/4 million prize in the win fund already

Football first

Looking forward to the FA Cup game between Liverpool and Man Utd, should be a classic, Liverpool on a high after seeing off Man City earlier in the week and obviously they will be out to do Suarez proud, but on the other hand Utd wont want to go down the same route as City and no doubt Evra and Co will be charged up for it, I also feel Fergie will want to put King Kenny back in his place, but apart from that it should be a good game.
Then I will get onto trading the horses and I may have to go into the evening to make a good days worth of profit, back later.

Day One

Well the day finally arrived and went really well, but I would say that as making 'X'% of a starting bank of £39 as I did make in excess of £5, so all in all I busted through my plan of 3% but it will be easier taking advantage of the money on the table compared to when I am trying to aim 3% of £1500 or more, but I suppose that is a bit contradictory as I want to apply the same mindset and rules to whatever size of bank, so will have to readjust my mind and refocus where required, but anyway here's looking to tomorrow.

Mental recap

Following on from yesterday's comment from Cassini and also an email I've received  I ask the readership to think about the tools and skills required to be a sports trader.
I am not particularly talking about scalping a horse race, trading a football match or another sport as such, more about the development of the mind and where newbie lumping £50 into betfair and expecting instant rewards and comparing themselves to a top trader who makes it public about how much they earn per day/week/month.
I would say that is a battle of the mind, your own mind, looking to the future trying where you will be in 3,6 or 12 months would be a better margin to aim for rather than trying to work out will I be able to double my bank today or over the weekend.

Spending time learning self discipline and having self belief along with determination and not being greedy will make YOUR betfair journey run a whole lot smoother and then be able to accept the cash rewards a little easier instead trying to give the money straight back in the next market you open.

So as much as technique, strategy and your 'edge' is important, equally is the mental side and how you approach that will have more impact on your balance than your trading skills will any day.

I know it's far from that easy , I was purely making reference to some of the material that people have when try to learn how to tackle this sports trading, nearly called it a game then but wouldn't sound like I had the right attitude, but thanks for the input appreciate it.

Ice Breaker

Clearly I am not watching that rubbish on the tv, so I've just been going through the old stuff on my pc, I came across an interesting document from the one and only Badger. The piece goes like this-
Q. Can you make £1 per race by trading horses?
A. Yes of course I can.

Q. Can you repeat that trade upto five times per race?
A. Yes why not, especially in the last ten minutes.

Q. Can you repeat that over five to six races per hour?
A. Yes again, just wait for the opportunities.

Q. Can you do it for a couple of hours each afternoon?
A. Yes, see above.

If you've got this point then you should be able to make a tidy profit each day from the horses, never mind the football, cricket, tennis and other sport that people seem to trade on betfair these days.

Question to more experienced users of betfair- When will the mindset begin to change from the joe public and trading will become the 'norm' so to speak, as even betfair now show a video of how to lock in a profit?

Thanks

Scoop6 Facts

Pick the winner of all 6 races!
The totescoop6 is a totepool bet which runs each Saturday on six selected races,
usually ones that are being shown live on Channel 4. The aim is to pick the winner
of all six races.
The totescoop6 pool is split into three separate funds – the win fund, the bonus
fund and the place fund.
To win your share of the win fund, you’ll need to pick the winner of all six
totescoop6 races. If all six of your horses are placed (see toteplace section for
explanation), you’ll win your share of the place fund.
All win fund winners can register to play for the bonus fund the following week. To
win a share of the bonus fund, you’ll need to pick the winner of the nominated bonus race as selected by the totepool.

Perm your selections! You can pick as many horses in each race as you wish but
remember that the more horses you pick, the more your bet will cost.
What happens if my horse is a non-runner? If one or more of your selections
are non-runners, they will be replaced with the SP favourite. If there are joint or cofavourites, they will be replaced with the joint or co-favourite with the lowest
racecard number.
Note that the minimum stake for a totescoop6 bet is £2 and, as with most multirace totepool bets, rollovers often occur meaning that bigger and bigger prizes can
be played for. Check totesport.com for the latest rollovers!

Taking the profit

I have drawn a line in the sand and stopped trading for the time being as I don't feel like I am rewarding myself for the effort that I have to put in, so with it being January (the month after Christmas) I have withdrawn everything, but do not despair I will be back with a nominal amount on my starting bank next month,  I see it as a way to give respect to your earning as when its in betfair all the time well that's exactly where it is, so trading is off the menu for a few weeks.

The Carling Cup

Not where the other semi is upto but whoever wins that one will be beaten by one of tonight's teams.
Really glad that Liverpool took the lead and went into win tonight, but as a united fan (from Manchester with a Manchester postcode) I find myself in a dilemma as on one hand you don't Liverpool to win a trophy and everyone celebrate with king kenny but even bigger is the fact that Man City have been knocked out of one cup already this week and I would to see them put out of this one, clear thing is that they will be ready with preprinted excuses, we haven't got x player available or it's a conspiracy or blue moon rising ang there building for the future, then one of their stupid fans will come out with a even more stupider tattoo of something they haven't won, oops this is turning into an anti city rant and u didn't intend it too just want to see them do it the hard way and know that you can't just throw £330,000,000 at it and expect instant silverware.

In the prem though where have Tottenham come from, they will play fewer games than both Manchester clubs between now and the end if the season and although the odds on betfair don't show it as yet the could become favourites by the end of January. Only time will tell....

Scoop6

Hi just abut if info to bring us to speed before weekend

Tote Scoop6 Rules
General
Scoop6 win/place funds will operate each Saturday on six races nominated by tote (each such race being a “leg”) at the racecourses indicated in the national and sporting press unless otherwise announced. The bonus race will be a race the following Saturday as nominated by tote unless otherwise announced. Special Scoop6 entry forms should be used. Entries are made by marking the racecard numbers of the selected horses in the spaces provided for the appropriate leg. The legs will be as supplied to the Press Association. Completed entries together with full stakes must be paid for and accepted into the system not later than the "the off" of the first leg.

Pools, Stake Allocations and Deductions
Stakes will be allocated to the three different funds as follows: Scoop6 win fund: Scoop6 place fund: Scoop6 Bonus Prize Fund in the ratio of 7:4:3 respectively. Following allocation, a deduction of 30% will be made from each fund. The Net Pool for each fund is 70% of stakes.

Stakes, totepool Units and Dividends
The minimum stake will be £2. Permutation bets in units of £2 will be accepted. Dividends for the Scoop6 win and Scoop6 place funds are calculated by dividing the appropriate portion of the net pool by the stakes on the winning combinations. Holders of winning tickets are paid in proportion to their stakes. The net pool for the Bonus Prize Fund will be shared proportionately by those selecting the winning horse in the bonus race. All the dividends will be declared to the stake unit and rounded down to the nearest 10p. The minimum dividend will be £1.10.

Scoop6 Win Fund
To win a dividend from the Scoop6 win fund, the winners of all of the day’s nominated Scoop6 legs must be correctly selected. If there is no outright winner of the Scoop6 win fund, the respective portion of the pool will be rolled over to the next Scoop6 win fund as decided by tote.

Scoop6 Place Fund
To win a dividend from the Scoop6 place fund, a horse on which a toteplace dividend would normally be declared must be selected in all of the day’s nominated Scoop6 legs. If, because of insufficient runners in any race, a toteplace pool is not operated, then only the winner will be regarded as the qualifying placed horse. If there is no outright winner of the Scoop6 place fund, the respective portion of the pool will be rolled over to the next Scoop6 win fund as decided by tote.

Scoop6 Bonus Prize Fund
Scoop6 win fund winners who have correctly selected each of the winners of the six Scoop6 legs will qualify to register to compete in the Bonus Prize Fund. Claimants must call the Scoop6 bonus race hotline on 0800 028 4418 (or such other number as announced by tote in the national and sporting press) with their winning receipt, to register as bonus race qualifiers. Claimants should also state if they have more than one winning line, as they will be entitled to one entry per winning line. Deadline for registration is 6pm on the Thursday before Saturday’s nominated Bonus Race. Failure to register will mean the claimant will not compete for the bonus prize fund. The nominated bonus race will be announced by 12.30pm on the Friday before the bonus race. Registered qualifiers must call the bonus race hotline on the Saturday of the bonus race anytime from 9am up to one hour before the Bonus Race publicised “off-time”. It is the registered qualifier’s responsibility to register their selection (or selections if they have more than one winning line). Should no new selection be received within one hour of the publicised "off-time" of the Bonus race, registered qualifiers will be allocated the Starting Price favourite in accordance with these rules. Qualifiers who register to play for the Scoop6 Bonus Prize Fund will be requested to agree to full media publicity. The qualifier may at the discretion of tote, be required to appear at a racecourse or other venue. If so tote will arrange and pay for reasonable travel and accommodation. Unless publicity has been agreed to by the qualifier, totepool will endeavour not to publicise a qualifier’s personal details. A Bonus Prize Fund will operate only if all six legs of Scoop6 have been run the previous week. If Scoop6 is decided on fewer than six legs, then the Bonus Prize Fund will not apply, and the day’s Bonus Prize Fund stakes will be allocated between Scoop6 win and Scoop6 place Funds. (Excludes stakes brought forward in rollovers from previous week’s Bonus Prize Funds, which will rollover directly to the following week’s Bonus Prize Fund). If there are no qualifiers for the Bonus Prize Fund, the fund will be rolled over to the next Bonus Race as decided by tote. If no one selects the winner of the Bonus Race, the Bonus Prize Fund will be rolled over to the next Bonus Race as decided by tote. In the event of the nominated Bonus Race not taking place for any reason, tote reserves the right to nominate any future race on any day as the Bonus Race. Should a Bonus Race selection be a non-runner, registered qualifiers will have the option to make a new selection on condition that no new selection can be made within 30 minutes of the publicised “off-time” of the Bonus Race. Should no new selections be received or should a selection become a non-runner within 30 minutes of the publicised “off-time” of the Bonus race, registered qualifiers nominating the non-runner will be allocated the SP favourite in accordance with tote General Rule (e). Payment will be made on the official result on the day, once the weighed in has been announced. In the event of the Bonus race being a Void Race, all registered qualifiers will be entitled to make a selection in another Bonus race to be nominated by tote.

Favourite Investment, Non-runners, Void Races
Bets stand on horses which do not run after coming under Starter’s Orders. In the Scoop6 nominated favourite and non-runner bets are not void but are replaced by the Starting Price favourite. When there are joint favourites, the one with the lowest racecard number will be taken. Should the first favourite be withdrawn before coming under Starter’s Orders but too late for the SP market to be re-formed, the shortest returned price runner will be used, but should there be two or more runners at the shortest price, the one with the lowest racecard number will be taken. If there is no Starting Price returned, the first actual runner quoted in the Racing Post betting forecast will be substituted. If there is no betting forecast and hence no substitute horse can be determined in accordance with any specific rules then the runner with the highest number of totewin pool units in the relevant race will be substituted. If two or more runners have an equal number of totewin pool units then the one with the lowest racecard number will substitute. If no totewin pool is operated then the lowest racecard number will substitute. If a race is declared void, Scoop6 will be settled on the remaining legs. Provided at least one leg of the Scoop6 takes place, a Scoop6 win and Scoop6 place dividend will be declared, subject to these rules. If no legs of Scoop6 are run, all bets will be refunded. This excludes stakes rolled over from previous Scoop6 funds, which will be rolled over for use in future Scoop6 funds as decided by totepool.

Dead Heat
Dead heats for first place count as equal winners in regard to the Scoop6 win and Scoop6 Bonus Prize Funds. Dead heats for first and other places count as equal winners in the Scoop6 place fund.

Specials
From time-to-time totepool may operate special standalone Scoop6 pools. These will be advertised in the usual manner and may be subject to some rule variations.

Match bets and arbing

I thought I'd mention this little idea for any beginners out there or even just to serve as a reminder to the more experienced of us, when taking up the option of ucantlose, if your are new to that bookie or betting exchange then as well as getting the arb you will also have the new customer free bet offer to take advantage of , typically around £25 or more, so just to recap you will easily be dumping a lot more than £1000 into bank account within weeks. A bit like two pieces of info for the price of one or even none if you take the offers at the same time as arbs , so get clicking on the link and good luck

Ever tried this

Following on from yesterday's post with ucantlose new year offer, I wanted to add something for you to think about, ever tried matched betting, where you take advantage of the bookies free bet offer and guarantee a payout much like an arb but you can lock in a profit from the bonus offer on top of the arb from ucantlose, also with typical arbs returning between 1-5% you would be able to double you bank account within a month quite easily

Well good result Man Utd in the FA Cup yesterday, was happy with the result from a fans perspective, lots of talking points throughout the game and it carries on now even 24 hours later. The sending was a red because at the end of the day it's the refs decision you can't blame Rooney for trying to influence the official and on that point I must say had Mancini got a short memory as it was him trying to players sent of at Anfield last Tweek.
The return of Paul Scholes has been called many things from inspirational to motivational and anything in between but he didn't look his sharpest and even contributed to city's second goal, but for me it's desperation on the part of Man Utd and if I was Anderson O would be looking at myself to think how can a player who's been retired for eight months be able to get back into the before me, still that's fergies way or problem, but surely I feel Utd should be out in the summer looking to spend a lot of cash to overhaul the current squad as we as fans spend a lot of money going to games and it's just not being reinvested in the team as in years gone bye, (stop ranting).

Anyway uptake for the new syndicate I have proposed has been a bit slower than I thought, but I will make something a bit more professional than trying to run it from a blog as there are many sites out there but either too expensive, with large admin costs or pages that haven't been updated in years which suggests that they are no longer running. So interest I still there and statistically it's easier than trying to win the lottery.

63 Bloggers Wanted

Yeah that's it guys me and you are going to start a Scoop6 Syndicate, from the online blogging world, I am volunteering to host and run it for us, I will maintain all the admin and set up arrangements with payments being made through PayPal.
The syndicate would have 64 equal shares with each share costing only £2 per week, with members being able to hold more than one share, I see this as a fantastic opportunity for all of us to get involved in. With the scoop6 requiring us to pick the winning horse from six races I feel we would benefit from having two selections in each race, that where the 64 shares comes from as there are sixtyfour combinations from our two runners in each race, selection would be made by using the information provided on the racing post website by picking the top two tipster rated horses in each race.

Mathmatically it is easier to predict the outcome of the scoop6 than it is to pick the lottery balls, so come on guys lets get involved and win some money.

Drop me a line in the comments box for further info with your email address( I promised not to publish the post to maintain your privacy) look forward to hearing from you.
Steve

Drop me a comment for further info with your email address( I won't publish the comment to maintain privacy ) look forward to you guys getting in touch.
