Daily Motivation Vs Long Term Goals

At the moment I have the opportunity to trade for 4 days a week, I am now back to where I was in the summer, my thought process at the moment makes me think about where I want to take my trading and the opportunities, in the past I was able to make a few pounds per day,  then even the cost of a few pints,.......fast forward to now and I am consistently making £25 per day, which when applied to the horse race markets it equals around £1.20 per race. I am stuck between bank growth and instant reward and I know this is a measure of the two, so drip feeding profits into my bank account will satisfy my short term rewards and leaving a little behind in betfair will allow my trading bank to grow and eventually get to where we all would like ours to be.....massive.

So keep calm and carry on and we will get there in the end,as we are not in a rush and remember its a marathon not a sprint. Just for any newbies out there- dont compare yourself to anyone, with the mind of "Well they make £100 a day and so will I", just learn and concentrate and you will do it.

We trade Betfair?

We trade betfair? You would normally answer YES but not at the moment as it seems the API is playing up- for me anyway, but never mind its a good day so far, so will take that for a nice return, nah one last check and althought the site is working the geeks toy is not.

After last Saturdays reality TV trading, I will defiantly be scalping a bit through the songs on the X Factor.

Good weekends trading- x factor style

Yeah traded good style this weekend, traded the horses as usual and also some football, but a special bonus of £7 came from trading X factor back and laying through the odds as each act performed so will  have that when it finishes, but most of all it was the £87 across three days that has spurred me on now back to where I was in the summer, when I was able to make £100 per week. Happy days as they say.

My Chelsea v Liverpool trade was on CS, so I scalped the 0-0 pre KO and had £50 on 0-0, I then backed 2-1    1-1 1-2 2-2 for £5 each and soon as the first goal went in I greened up for £12 on any score, but then layed 0-1 to £0 and that up my profit by a few quid, at 1-1 I layed it late on just before the goal for me to finish with £19 on  any score but layed 1-2 after Glen Johnson scored for £10 at 1.2 so ended on £17 green, very happy with not much effort.

My freinds

Hi one of my friends is trying to make a christmas song make it to No1 this year, he wants I wish it could be christmas everyday please help him out if you can. Cheers guys

I WISH IT COULD BE CHRISTMAS EVERYDAY

Good days follow up

Well as they said I've had my loses refunded and some cash back as well. Well chuffed cos I followed that up with a game of DOND with a £10 promotion offer, I played for £10 stakes and cashed out for £9.20 so I lost 80p for a free £10 game so as long as I win more than 80p its all good, roll on Friday.

So the mindset was positive and so was the results of the day, it truly feels like I having stopped, it was a long break and I enjoyed not trading, but with so much happening at home it wasn't an option but now our home is nearly in order and I can my days off to make some cash on sports trading.

£20 Free Insurance

I got a phone call from Betfair CS last Wednesday to offer me a £20 free bet offer, they basically offered to refund any losing bets I had for the next five days, I started on the offer yesterday afternoon by laying horses for up to £20 liability and greening them up In running, knowing that even if the horse went on to win I would get my money back (result). I greened up to enable me to keep taking advantage of the refund offer. I also did a few football matches. This morning  I set up a multiple  for £17- it was an acca of 5 horses and then layed them all on the individual race markets, moved onto Morecombe and Shef wed for a bit more profit.

From a £20 bank yesterday I have made £68.20 with a further £18.80 to be refunded from the offer, really impressed with the weekend, so what a way to get back into it

So close

Nearly there, well sort of, seems the idea of moving house doesnt go as fast in reality as you would like it to, from unpacking a never ending pile of boxes to painting the walls, I would like to have been trading again by now but I cannot justify sitting at the pc for hours per day on my day off,( especially when I have no desk)when there is so much to do, so still a few weeks yet, on a plus point I have just got on the Iphone train- finally, so what is the best app for trading pre-match.

back in the room

Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, the eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, don't look around my eyes, look into my eyes, you're under.
Your internet is back on tomorrow-finally and thank god can start trading again.
Three, two, one... You're back in the room.

A longer break than I first thought

I know its been a bit quiet in these parts but I soon realised that trading wireless from a laptop on the horses didn't suit me, as soon as we move into our new house I will be back on it- trading and blogging, I have really feel out of the loop in the world of betfair and trading but I'm pretty sure I will get back into, hope everyone is making a good profit and will be joining you all soon.

Still going strong-ish

Just come back from a great week and a bit in Cornwall with the wife and kids, I took out all my rewards from my betfair account and I am now back in bank building mode, this time it feels a lot more relaxed as I am quite positive because I know its possible and very achievable. So heres to the future- cheers (oh no I'm off my hols now :-( )

pass me my trumpet

I did say quite some time back that I didn't want to make this a 'post your profits' type of blog, but I would like to show this as more of an inspiration to other wannabe traders that YOU can do it, if you keep at it, if you go back through my blog there are posts where I have been winning 30p or 48p or similar per race, but this is astronomical, I don't win £11+ in every race but I am now convincingly winning over £2 a race now, I have let my bank grow a bit but also I have been taking out the profits to feel some reward for my efforts, so to recap in a short space of time I have really turned it around and if I can do it, you can do it, good luck.

Having self belief

belief

–noun
1.
something believed an opinion or conviction: a belief thatthe earth is flat.
2.
confidence in the truth or existence of something notimmediately susceptible to rigorous proof: a statementunworthy of belief.
3.
confidence; faith; trust: a child's belief in his parents.
4.
a religious tenet or tenets; religious creed or faith: theChristian belief.

I feel like this is some kind of acceptance at the Oscars or similar, because if someone had told me that I could go from be a newbie trader with a little knowledge to go to make over £330 in one month I would have thought they was crazy, but that is exactly what I have done, simply sticking to the plan and taking little bites of the cherry soon add up, a word to the beginners out there- keep the faith and keep going and stick to the plan- you can do it.

Just not cricket

Having made about 1% of my bank on the previous test match between England and India I decided to continue where I left off, I layed India at the start of the game and greened up by just after my lunch for about £6 any outcome, I thought brilliant India just haven't got it in them them and put in a cheeky £4 lay to green up when the odds doubled up to about 8-9s, never happened cos England have collapsed and having backed and layed over £2700 I am left with £1.54 on any result, you must admit that that just takes the piss, I should have stayed with my green of £6 and left it at that until it rolled into my bank on Tuesday when it finished. Oh well that's greed for you.

Back on to the horse racing, I just want to try and explain something that is making me shift my approach to trading opportunities, when we all star out in the beginning our stakes are small and don't affect the market, but now that my stakes are increasing, when I find a gap in the market say nothing at 6.8 and same at 7.0 if I put my £25 in in its looks a lot bigger in the market and find people either going in front of it or when it does get matched it creates a negative pressure and send the market the opposite way to where my tick offset is and have to scratch/take a loss/ be more selective and try to scalp the market when I can see direction or when its nicely built up nearer to the start of the race.

Public service announcement

I have just received the following message as a comment on this blog, I have posted it as obviously it is a scam and I wanted to warn anyone against contacting this person if they have been sent anything similar, I have blurred out the email address for security reasons-

'Hello, i am betfair full-time trader since 4 years and since short time i started to trade for customers with a ROI of 35% per month on average. If you are interested to join me or share trading views dont hesitate add me in msn **************@hotmail.fr or mail me in that adress. I am at present developing an application for Smartphone to bet on tennis matches In Play since the stands of a stage(stadium), taking advantage to see the point marked directly(live) with regard to the traders who have to wait for the TV flow or the stake has in the daytime of the scoreboard on internet (delays of several seconds.) This kind of trading is called of the courtside trading. good luck'

Also the email is from France and isn't betfair banned there? So even suspect if you ask me.

Why trading is like a game of Snakes and Ladders

I say snakes and ladders metaphorically, its not a new game that betfair are offering, I find that when you start out the gains and losses are really big compared to your bank size as you find yourself being ill-disciplined and going inplay making good gains related to your bank and also taking big losses that will wipe out your beginners bank. As we progress through our trading journey the ladders(wins) become more relative to our bank size and snakes(loses) become easier to absorb into our trading life, expect, except that is when we deviate from the trading plan and don't do what is says on the tin and we find ourselves going down a bigger snake than we wanted to, basically I went inplay after doing so well for so long and lost over 1/3 of my bank or £112 on a horse and being stupid, careless, call it what you will. It links in so well my previous post where I said its a fine line between being over confident and complacent, at the time I know I should be taking the loss and accepting it, but I never and I will deal with the setback and carry on going forward.

Today is the Eve of the betfair trading bank robbery(PC increase to 60%) seriously its a joke, traders making a modest amount will have the earning capped and probably feeling like they are doing this for nothing, I hope they find a way to continue trading either through better competition in the exchanges, I see a few new ones popping up and maybe they will become something of a serious competitor to betfair, I know this wont happen in a hurry and I feel that the £250k limit will come down to meet me before I get to that level, so even though I have only just started profiting from this game, long may it continue on betfair or elsewhere

Significant figures

My betfair bank is now at a level where I cannot just re-deposit some extra cash to top it up, if I lost my mind one day and decided upon gambling it away in play then I would be F!"£$D big style as it would be a long way back. But on the opposite side it is also at the level where I can consistently pull in at least £1 per race sometimes up to £3 and this is where I get the title from as I truly believe, that like all newbies want a substantial enough bank to make it feel like its worth while trading. It just took me a very long time to realise this and I can call on quite a few well known traders out there to use a few quotes-

Tradeshark "The best way to grow your bank is to grow it slowly"

The Badger "Increase your bank by 3% per day and you'll double it in less than month"

There are probably a lot more that I have read from around the forums, other blogs and videos from youtube.

I know trading isn't easy, as each and every race is different and brings its own challenges, I am beginning to 'learn' how to face and over come these obstacles, e.g don't get involved in an Irish with 10 mins left not you'll end up on the wrong side of big swing. I know for sure that with confidence comes complacency and it feels like a fine line between them both sometimes, but I sure as hell can't wait for the start of the new football season and seriously wish I had started learning about cricket a bit earlier, but still good advice from the daily trader email from centaur last week and also over last weekend- spot on with trades.

Think I am going to leave it there as its getting late and got to get up for my 'normal' job in the morning.

Still got to go out after all that

Been sat here for the last few hours trading, feeling rough from last night and I now feel absolutely shattered after keep my attention for so long, but that is my only complaint as I have made a good profit on the horse racing this afternoon, my thoughts of trading on a Saturday have changed recently, as I now appreciate that I can scalp a race every five minutes and turn out a good green book. A side from that I have a 2% of bank profit on either result in the Eng v Sri Lanka, my only let down today was a loss in a football match trying to trade the u2.5- starting odds 1.75 so I backed it with a view to lay off at 1.1ish and the lowest it ever got was around the 1.40 mark and the game ended with 4 goals being scored, still I am only using minimum stakes for the time being.

My focussed has altered a bit, a lot I should say as I think finally I can see in my mind that rather than goes inplay to make 50p and risk £40 to it, its easier to red up for a loss and move onto the next race, I know I could be making more per race but for the time being I am happy with £1 a race average over the last few weeks, I have got my betfair bank up to the highest its ever been, so like I said I am a bit more eager to protect it and not do silly things to risk it, clearly I have not 'made it' yet as a sports trader but instead of comparing myself to anyone else I am content with the growth I have achieved both mentally and in terms of my Betfair balance. Patience is the key, along with discipline and more patience and more discipline, so try and keep at it if you've just started out.

Keeping the ball rolling

Really enjoyed today, I have traded nearly every horse race this evening and profited in most took a few reds in the remainder, my trading today started early as I got involved in the cricket whilst I was still at work and made a return of 50% on my stake courtesy of the daily trader email, I have got money on the argies game later backing the O2.5 and have put in a lay bet using the keep bet function, I'll either make a bit or lose a bit  but I'm not staying up that late to follow it, but I'm pretty sure it'll be the first thing I check in the morning. Night all

Friday, 1 July 2011

So lets kick off day one

I had two trades advised to me today from the trader club, one horse trade (no profit) and the other was a lay of Murray, I didn't use the stakes advised, as obviously my bank doesn't match that of the Badgers, anyway the lay of Murray resulted in a tidy profit overall considering the stakes I had used, I did the Murray trade when I was at my PC today and monitored it once I had come out of the swimming pool- betfair mobile even shows the scores these days. Over the coming week and months Centaur has a number of different trading courses and seminars running both online and in person, I know one days sun doesn't make a harvest but I think they have lots of good info and tuition on offer. The trader club I have signed up for is less than £1 per day and just being a monthly subscriber entitles you to an 80% discount on a courses you decided to undertake, take look here

Run for the hills

Why is everyone scampering for the quickist way out of betfair to trade at another exchange, we all know for sure there will a toys out of the cot for a couple of weeks, the dust will settle and everyone(under £250k profit) will carry on normal, so to me its like a load of hot air- get over it

Jensen Button

Jensen,Jensen,Jensen, how amazing was the F1 yesterday, great race to watch, even if it did drag on during the rainy periods, really impressed with Jensen's performance yesterday it just highlights that we should never give up on winning, the determination shown by him is incredible from last to first, positive thinking from him in a big way. Even if Vettel hadn't run wide I believe Button would have over taken him going into the last chicane as he would of had DRS available, even so it was brilliant to see his fightback, picking off Webber, Schumacher and then ultimately the championship leader. Really admire his mindset and the way he kept going with 5 pit stops and a drive through penalty, just goes to show if you can keep your head who know what is possible, lets see if I can transfer something similar into my trading

Taking advice

After a long time 'learning' the fundamentals of betfair trading, I can say that if I had listened to people a bit wiser and more experienced at this than myself, I would be a bit further on in my career as a sports trader, I remember posting on a forum saying if I made 1% of my bank per race I could be a millionaire by Christmas- mathematically yes that would have been true, but would the markets have been able to take my bets at £50000 a time, I don't think so, more importantly would I have been able to accept that when it goes wrong and you have to red up for a £2000 loss, again I don't think so.
What I am trying to say to any wannabe sports traders out there (me included) listen to the advice that's being offered, most of the time you can find it for free- other blogs, face groups, twitter, forums, youtube the list goes on. At the moment I am especially enjoying listening to Jack Birkhead every other day speaking about trading from his point of view, i understand that he is trying to get us on board to join his STJ site, and why not, he must be doing something right with so many members and I particularly liked the interview with chuck from trading the exchange for £28k in 2011 nice insight in his trading practices also. The main that comes across is that trading is all to do with the mind, get this bit right and we wont go far wrong. Good luck......

Development of the mind

This is my latest reading in trying to develop my mind, the thinking it creates in your mind are amazing- Secrets of the millionaire mind, the book is full little bits and bobs designed to give you belief that you can be rich too.

Deal or no deal

Trading on betfair brings us many ups and downs, as does life in general, recently I have been reading a few self help/ personal development books, and I can safely say that I feel empowered from reading them, the glass is now more than half full for sure, you may even say it was overflowing- sometimes.

Trading is going well, I have realised that my forecasts for my bank size for this year are totally unacceptable and I am now happy and content with the consistent daily profits I managed to turn out, I have set myself a long term goal on a spreadsheet to allow me to 'focus on where I'm going'.

One quick points, Jack at STJ has started doing a video diary, every couple of days, to document how the markets are each day, I am not a subscriber of his service and I am very much looking for to see what he has to offer once the three month free journey is over. PS in his first Vid he mentions a book called Rich Dad Poor Dad, think I might go and check it out.......

long-sighted-ness

Yep that's what every trader needs- long-sighted-ness, if you are a trader who doesn't look further the today, then I'm afraid your not going to make it in the world of trading. I remember some time ago when I first started this blog I thought this was easy money time, add bit every day = millionaire by then end of the year. Well we are nearly half way through the year and my initial forecasts about having a massive trading account haven't been realised as yet(but its still a substantial one in my eyes), I am not saying its not possible, just that it will take a little longer than first predicted,

Recently my blogging has become a bit hit and miss, shows that after talking about daily P+L's I don't really have any more to say, so my blog will become a bit less frequent than when I first started, but as bits of wisdom come in to my head, I will be here to share them with you.

Goodluck

Looking to the future

Well this is it where do I go from here, trading is continuing nicely but I was beginning to get a bit bored of posting day after day I made this or I made that, so from now on this blog will no longer be about my profit and loss, as I am not sure it actually has any value, other than  looking at someone else's profit.

So where am I up to, first point sorry for the lack of updates in the past week or so,not really had much to say if you take into account what I said in the previous paragraph, but anyway I am still focussed and still committed to making a success of it. This week I took part in an online seminar from centaur sports trading academy, I was actually really impressed with the way it was presented and what they have to offer, be it mentoring, daily trading tips, in-depth sports trading courses and further online seminars.

Looking at my own trading I still haven't managed to branch out in to any other sports yet, but something I will be researching in the next month or so,or even wait until the start of the next football and just consolidate my trading skills  on the horses instead, who knows, it may even have to take a seat on the back burner as I have an interview next week for new job, its only a couple of months long contract before I go to college full-time (well two days a week)but thats what they call it.

Happy trading

The shackles are off

For the last two days trading I have been trying something a little different front the norm, I haven't been stopping                      trading each race once I have made my 2-3 scalp trades, I have instead been trying to maximise my profit,  yesterday was a really good day as my profit was £40.65 even though   £9.50 of that came from the Betfair crash could have been worse but personally I would prefer it if betfair just voided the whole market as I'm sure there would have been some losers as well, but then where would they there commission from for the ONE SINGLE market(greedy they are). Anyway back on the subject of trading, today have been similar, I have been trading more freely, at times I have found myself at -£2 with a few minutes to go but managed to turn it around for a quid or so profit, I think to avoid the bigger losses with my new £10 stake I will have to be a bit more patient and wait until the volume is increased and the market is formed and stable( as much as it ever is).
I withdrew £33 yesterday as I wanted the money and didn't want to see it wasted by me having a 'moment' a blowing it (self trust and self belief is not there yet), I will do the same today and let my bank increase a few percent at the same time. Until next time ... keep it green

Saturday recap

Seems like everyday before I start trading I feel anxious and begin to wonder if I can repeat the previous days efforts and profits, after a few races I can get into a grove and wait patiently for the next trade to present itself or the next race if I am content with the profits on the current race. I have just been going over the P+L from my betfair account, I traded 39 races and made a profit in 37 of them, my biggest win was £1.12 and smallest was 7p, the two loses I had were -7p which is basically a scratch and the other lose was -£1.78, this was the last race of the day for me and the reason I  made such a huge lose was because my trading bank was on £121.94 and I wanted to make that extra few pence to round it up to £122, this obviously never happened and I could feel myself being tired and not being focussed enough to carry on, so I shut down The Geeks Toy and left it there for the day, I am pretty certain that I would never have allowed myself to make such a lose earlier in the day as it came from over staking and trying to force a position when it was clearly going the opposite direction to my trade.

Total profit for the day was £23.53 an average of £0.60 per race, very happy with the consistency and being able to maintain it through most of the day.

I do not feel I am in the position to give advice to newbies yet, but here goes- it was only a week ago that my trading bank was only £28, and 7days later and after 222 markets I have done considerably well, my format at the moment is 2-3 scalp trades with a one tick offset per race on a 10% stake gives a good return per day, so I just want you to know it can be done.

Now that my bank has exceeded the £100 barrier I has switched to £10 stakes, I feel this is a good time to level my stakes and allow the bank to grow and at the same time reduce my stake to 5%.

Not trading today, bit of shopping with the wife and find somewhere to watch the football later (c'mon United).

See you later keep it green

Positive thinking

Positive thinking today has brought me my biggest ever total in one day of trading, I am aware of the fact that I am still beginning this long journey, but I made two days profit in one day I split my day into two sessions, before tea (day races) and after (evening races), I only scalp one tick offset at the moment and I can safe that the markets move slower in the day and more erratic at night, trading with a stake equal to 10% of my bank I have been trying to make two scalps per race to make a decent return through the day, on many races I made a lot more trades than I intended to, either by get the first one wrong and re-entering the market or by being greedy(seeking further opportunities) but the thing is is the amount I have traded in volume today, I had a brief scan over my P+L in betfair and I would estimate that I have backed and layed over two thousand pound today, that is crazy money considering when I started out this afternoon my bank was £77.20.

Apart from that I am exhausted from concentrating on the screen for the last six - seven hours on and off.

Quick note for any newbies a bit newer than me, if your looking for advice, check out the Racing Traders forum, The Geeks Toys Forum and Tradeshark  tennis forum.

Confidence is growing

Yep confidence is growing, along with my bank and I am starting to get the 'feel' for it I think, I am being more selective with my trading opportunities and making better choices about when to enter the market. If I look back over my posts and see that I was finding it difficult to maintain my enthusiasm to trade at £2 stakes and earn between 3-5p per race, that was a test of my determination and so far I am persevering well. My stake is currently set to 10% of my trading bank and I have be aiming for around 5% a day, but I have been far exceeding this and making 10% as I felt comfortable in the trading environment. If and it is only an if, I can maintain the same progress I should have a balance of around £100 by the end of the weekend, from then on I will keep my unit stake at £10 until I reach £200, so lets see how we.

Quick note to add to this- Although I am happy with my progress recently it still sometimes feels like I am only one trade away from blowing it all, and requires maximum concentration at the moment, I am hoping that as my experiences grow with the higher bank level this feeling will subside and I will have the self belief  to match my confidence and not become complacent, anyway whatever happens I will blog it down as a post on here.

Halfway up a mountain

That's right I have made it to a half century, sticking to the principles in my mind and some how scalping well all afternoon, I do feel slightly mentally tired now though and the PC is going off after I write this post.

I say half way up a mountain in the title, but its not really a massive achievement as I know its still have one hell of a climb left to make something out of trading and make a good enough profit each day, for the remainder of this month my forecast is about 5% a day and I 'should' have £200 in my trading account by the 31st so lets see how it goes.

INTERNET CONNECTION

Just taking a break from trading for few minutes, I was trading up to the off and connection dropped, any ideas on what I can say to BT to make it more stable, I know the timer reads -55 seconds, but even though my connection was gone the geeks toy keeps counting.

Been here before? I think

I have had my trading bank up at this level before, (£44.73 to be exact) but today felt different, a lot different as I  single clicked my stakes and staked responsibly, traded patiently and confidently knowing full well that if this trade was unsuccessful I always had the next one to have a go at, its like the feeling of desperation to make every trade a profitable one has gone and I am not constantly thinking about how much I could make today. I didn't mean too trade so long today as I felt like I did enough yesterday, but took a few breaks throughout the afternoon and I think that this is what's making the difference for me, breaking down the trading sessions into smaller sessions of about an hour or so.
So turned a corner? Maybe so lets see how it goes for the next few races/days/weeks and then I just might have something, by the way I have not gone inplay in a race in the last seven days and that is something I am very happy about.

E O T M U

That's it we've come to the End Of The Month Update, still plugging away at trading I still haven't made a fortune but I seem to have learn't so much more from a mental POV this month, especially with not trying to over trade and make barrow load of money on each race, the idea is for the long term- yes it is.
So still compounding my profits slowly but surely they are building up, recently I had set myself a small target per day to try and achieve, but today the house was quiet and I wasn't particularly too tired so I just kept plugging away for an hour or so and then took a short break, the thing is I then look back over my P+L from betfair for today and I traded forty yes 4 0 races today, didn't feel like that at all, but I made £10.54 in total, not a world beater but personally very impressed I was able to hold my concentration for so long without F!"£$%G Up , so big pat on my back.

Royal wedding Horserace trading

This post has nothing to do with the royal wedding unlike everything else in the world at the moment, fair enough two people are getting married, good luck to them, but that's as far as I go!

Rant over

I am doing well at the moment, really focussing on the small amounts dripping into my betfair account, this morning I was lying in bed thinking about trading and I likened it to an addiction, I am sure recovering addicts will disagree with what I mean, but what I am saying is that any pre race trader is only one trade away from going in play and blowing a lot of hard work by losing it and their bank, so it takes constant attention and awareness of the bigger picture and the long-term-ness (is that a word) of what trading is to stay on track and target.

No trading tomorrow for me taking advantage of the extra bank holiday(ironic I know) and going out on a Leo Sayer, not going to over do it though, don't want to be too fuzzy for Saturday trading.

Practice what you preach(or blog in this case)

Since last week I have been up a bit and down a lot, well more than a lot, like the title reads I wish I could stick to my plan a little more often and try and bring a profit and KEEP it in my trading account for more than a few hours or days before I seem to want to give it back through betfair, since my latest stumble I have been stopping once I have made my 3% target for the day, although I have only traded 4 out of the last 7 days due to the weather being so nice, but for now it seems like we are back to good old English weather, so I will come back to the PC a bit more often I think and keep going at those 3%'s, must say some excellent reading around on blog and forums about learning how to realise your goals and what you can do to achieve it. Its all about opening the mind and training it to react without thinking and to be able to do it subconsciously although some of my trading I could be unconscious.

Little and not very often

From now on I will be trying to increase my trading account slowly and in small amounts, I find myself drawn to be outdoors when the weather is nice, so I don't really plan to be trying to make the big time in trading for a while yet, I know people will say you should be making hay while the sunshine and banking the profit when you can, but that's it you see when the sun is shinning who wants to be trading anyway, I mean come the autumn it will be different and I will have a several hundred pounds trading account even if I increased at 1% per day.

On another note, Man Utd were unlucky to lose yesterday and we didn't play our best, they beat us so never mind we carry on, I wish I hadn't drank so much as I did, still feel rough and its nearly 8 at night now.

Keeping afloat

To capitalise on yesterdays good return, I have decided to myself that I am going to limit my chance of doing something wrong by quitting the day when I have achieved a 3% increase in my trading. Then the remainder of my efforts trying to understand how tennis trading works- when to get involved? When to stay clear? How much liability and quite a few other things.

Something special

Today was a very very good day, I have scalped and swung trade all day until now(1933) I have closed the Geeks toy down and I am going to call it a day, I have only had one loser and some good mini greens throughout the day, bear in mind my account is still less than £50 but only by £1 or so.
While I am still learning I feel I could easily lose it all tomorrow but as the bank increases I see me having a bit more  enthusiasm in trading as I have took it lightly for the last few weeks, but there may lie my problem I may well start to over trade and take risks and such like, we shall see.

Tomorrow is another day and I'm looking forward to it ;-)

Kevin Keegan Famous Rant - I will love it if we beat them!

Post Weekend Update

Witt the arrival of the evening meetings, my trading has become a more relaxed affair, prior to last week I felt like I had to try and go for gold in the first few races to try and make some profit before I had to leave for the school, but on Friday I don't think I even started trading until gone 4PM, Saturday was much the same, first enjoyed the weather and a bike ride and then did a few evening races again, my plan was to not trade Sunday at all as we had a family get together at my house, but once everyone had gone and pc was I kicked to Geeks toy into and started doing US races, nearly blew my bank as I had been drinking but luckily was wise enough to be able to turn it off and realise that there is always tomorrow to do a bit.

not in play today

Short post this is going to be- basically I have trade thirteen races today and didn't go inplay in any of them, I took the small profit that I made and moved on - even taking a loss on one race, so maybe I can change my thought process after all.

Anyone for tennis

Last few days when I haven't been trading the horses, I have been scouring the web for tennis trading tips and ideas, been on many forums reading bits and bobs, youtube watching a few videos and tradeshark tennis blog/forum/trading guide, this will definitely be my next sport to go into as the football season is nearly over. Apart from that horses is going OK steady, nothing spectacular but they successful trading is boring - cant wait to get there.

Biting off more than I can chew

I think I have worked out that I am so eager to get my trading bank up, up and away, that I am missing the point, I try and preach to myself to taking it slowly and doing it by little and often. But and its a big BUT when I come to sit down at the PC I come undone with all my ideas and boundaries that I set myself and decide I want to be a 'millionaire' before the afternoon is over.
This is not a way to the rich streets at the moment but something will have to change in my attitudes, I have been on my 'government enforced work gap' for just over four months and although I have had the opportunity to make something of it with regards betfair, I know I won't be able to make a profit without a change of mindset/attitude and learning to be patient and disciplined with regards losses. I have never been able to take my trading seriously while trading with such a small trading bank, always in the back of my mind that it doesn't matter or even setting up trades to go inplay and ensuring that there would still be £10 in my betfair account if it went wrong.
So from today  I will be trying to trade with a different outlook- one with no 'set' targets, no rush to get the Geeks toy loaded up as soon as I come through the door and remove the desire in my mind where I feel I need to be trading every race otherwise I may miss something.

That's the plan anyway

Dripping taps indeed

A good analogy with the dripping tap, as one day surely it would fill the bucket and be able to reap the rewards of being a successful trader, gambling, bettor, sports investor  or what ever you want to call yourself, anyway the post I am referring to came from 'Patient Speculation blog' and well worth a read. Carrying the same theme my bucket is still far from full and is now up to the £16 mark.

A bit more than a double dip

Since my last post, where I had £25, yesterday I dropped further down to £10.22 and then I decided to call it a day, recovered a little bit today to £12.26 but not along from anything worthwhile yet, I have made a spreadsheet today to try and focus on what I could achieve 'LONG-TERM' as I need to get out the mindset of thinking what I could make or earn today/tomorrow or this week, I seem to have lost my way in regards that I haven't forgotten that the little bits soon add up and will make something good- ONE DAY

Where to go from here

I had previously said that wasn't going to update my blog until my balance was over £100, its a shame to say it but I haven't quiet managed it .....yet at the moment my trading account is £25.30 even though its been considerably higher and a lot lower than that as well since my last post about my trading account balance, either I am not cut out for it or and this is my preferable answer I am expecting too much of myself with such a small bank, I am therefore lowering my expectations and I am going think in my mind that I will be happy with whatever daily return I get, as long as its positive as the first rule of trading should be to not lose, I will have another read of Mastering Betfair: How to make serious money trading betting exchanges by Pete Nordsted to try and inspire myself, and will follow that up with a couple of psychology books to try and find my focus again, I didn't trade today and yesterday was a loser so I am going to take tomorrow off as well and will try and ease myself back into a positive daily return (is that being over confident- who knows) anyway that's a question for another day. Just a note about this post from Cassini at Green all over, saying that anyone serious about sports trading should be able to make £60 a day, well here's to hoping for that. Thanks
